United Methodist Women Purpose Statement

The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ: to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in global ministries of the church.

We invite you to: "grow spiritually through worship, Bible study and prayer, celebrate the person you are becoming in Jesus Christ; develop meaningful and lasting relationships, share who you are and your gifts, take action and make a difference in your community and the world."

Meeting for February:

Thursday, February 2, at 1:00 is our first general meeting of 2017.  Princess Johnson will lead in "The Call to Prayer and Self Denial" focusing on maternal and infant health.  Doris McCampbell leads the business meeting.  Hostesses are Marilyn Birt, Dot Malone, and Doris McCampbell.  This is one of our two extra offering times.  All women are welcome.

On January 3, we hosted a car club meal.  Susan Hart, Princess Johnson, Carolyn Walker, and Laura Smith did it along with furnishing the salads and desserts to go with the chicken and noodle meal.  The guys always share their appreciation.

The Conference UMW has had a January Retreat and offers another one in April in Ft. Wayne.  See the bulletin board for sign-up sheets.

A big THANK YOU is offered to all who made 2016 a great year.  Special thanks to the leadership of Princess Johnson as outgoing president and work with funeral dinners...to Linda and Dave Inlow for the pickles' work and funeral dinners as well as setting up chairs and tables...to Nila Townsend for heading the nut project....and to many others.......

The booklet will be out as soon as the office is able to finish several projects.  Thanks to Brandy Smith for that work.

Plan ahead for Saturday, March 4 at 10:00 AM to be the Lenten Brunch.  Guest speaker is Don Deena Johnson, Associate Pastor of First UMC, Anderson.  Circle 2 serves as host but any brunch donation is accepted as the community is invited.

Your President,

Ruth Anna Helm
