Risk-taking Mission & Service

New Horizons United Methodist Church takes an active part in Risk-taking Mission and Service. Our members are out in the community serving food, painting, weeding, picking up trash, helping in preschools and creating relationships with the members of our community.

We will continue to serve a “chicken & noodle dinner” at the Alternatives Shelter on the 2nd Friday of each month. We are also cooking and serving at Man4Man. If you can dip food on a plate or furnish a dessert, please contact the church office.

There is a collection box in the coat room to deposit used cell phones, beepers, pagers, hygiene products, “Campbell’s” products UPC bar codes, and postage stamps.  All of these items help with our Missions Projects.

We have members that go to Stepping Stones each week. They take food, towels, blankets, soap and personal items. The veterans always want someone to talk with.

Knit Pickers (Prayer Shawl Ministry) meets every week at Bethany Pointe Health Campus. There, they knit, crochet and talk with residents. The finishes products are used to comfort the sick in body and/or spirit. Scarves are also taken to the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure each April. It is not necessary to knit or crochet, just come to visit or play the organ!
